Student Activities....

Schutz American School is a member of the Eastern Mediterranean Activities Conference (EMAC) and the International Schools Activities Conference (ISAC). The organizations sponsor activities in order to pursue the following goals: to encourage socialization, to encourage intercultural cooperation, to develop a sense of fair play, to understand principles of group participation, to develop a sense of self-control and discipline, to understand the importance of participation to the best of one’s abilities, and to offer the opportunity to broaden horizons through travel.

Students participate and compete at the varsity (V) level in the following activities: volleyball, soccer, and basketball and at the junior varsity (JV) level in tennis.

A Middle School Sports Festival (MSSF) exists to involve younger students in volleyball, soccer, and basketball. The emphasis of the MSSF is on sportsmanship.

The non-athletic activities include Senior Fine Arts, Junior Fine Arts, Junior Academic Games, Senior Academic Games, and the Leadership Retreat.

The school is involved in twelve EMAC/ISAC events each year—two events hosted by Schutz. All other events require travel to countries in the Middle East or Cairo. All athletic events have girls and boys teams. Non-athletic events are co-ed.

High school students have the opportunity to participate in Model United Nations (MUN) and attend the annual conferences in Cairo and in The Hague.

The school is a member of the National Honor Societies and the National Association of Student Councils. The National Honor Societies and the Student Councils meet on a weekly basis.
